Restaurant Workshop
The concluding event of academic year 07-08 was a workshop on entrepreneurship opportunities in the restaurant and catering business. The speakers were Natasha Aggarwal, proprietor of Mama Mia, the first Gelato outlet in the country and Apalit Sen, owner of Savorites. The workshop was quite an insight into the restaurant business, its intricacies and challenges!
Laboratory on Entrepreneurial Motivation - Sunil Handa
A two day workshop called Laboratory in Entrepreneurial Motivation (LEM) conducted by Mr. Sunil Handa, a serial Entrepreneur with a Bachelors from BITS, Pilani and an MBA from IIMA. His unconventional way of teaching makes his course, which has no prescribed text books, reading, or quizzes, the most popular and sought after course at IIMA. Started two years ago, this workshop has now become a regular feature at IIM Calcutta. We feel IIMC students have been lucky enough to have got a chance to attend his workshop which targets the 'fear factor' involved in spurning or giving up a job to start out on your own.
